Henry County REMC Accepting Applications for Fifth Annual Summer Cooperative Camp

(Wednesday, March 11, 2026 | New Castle, Ind.) – Henry County REMC (HCREMC) is now accepting applications for its fifth annual Summer Cooperative Camp, a unique, hands-on experience designed for high school students interested in skilled trades and careers in the utility industry.

The week-long camp will take place June 22–26, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day, and will give students an inside look at how an electric cooperative operates. Participants will work alongside HCREMC employees and local industry professionals to learn about a variety of career paths within the cooperative and utility sectors.

Camp activities are designed to provide real-world exposure and practical skills while helping students better understand career opportunities available in their own communities.

“This camp gives students a chance to step into the real world of electric utilities and skilled trades,” said Adam Warwas, Chief Operating Officer at HCREMC. “Each year we try to introduce new activities and challenges that give participants a true hands-on experience. It’s exciting to watch students discover career paths they may not have considered before.”

Summer Cooperative Camp is free to attend, making it an invaluable opportunity for teens who are curious about careers in skilled trades, engineering, operations, logistics, or other cooperative-related fields.

“As the camp enters its fifth year, we’re proud to continue offering this program to local students,” Warwas said. “Programs like this help build awareness of the many rewarding careers available in the utility industry, and we’re excited to welcome another group of students this June.”

Due to the hands-on nature of the program, space is limited, and first-time applicants will be given priority.

The deadline to apply is May 29, 2026.
