Henry County REMC and CoBank Award $30,000 in Sharing Success Grants to Three Local Organizations

(Thursday, February 19, 2026 | New Castle, Ind.) – Henry County REMC, in partnership with CoBank, has awarded a total of $30,000 in Sharing Success grants to three Henry County organizations: New Castle Career Center, Secret Families of Henry County, and Turn Away No Longer.

Each organization received $10,000 through CoBank’s Sharing Success program, which matches charitable donations made by its customer-owners. Henry County REMC contributed $5,000 to each nonprofit, with CoBank matching those donations dollar-for-dollar.

CoBank’s Sharing Success program is designed to strengthen rural communities by partnering with its customer-owners, who are uniquely positioned to identify where support is needed most. Through this annual fund, CoBank matches up to $15,000 in contributions per customer-owner, helping local investments go even further.

“These grants represent the power of partnership,” said Melissa True, CEO of Henry County REMC. “Because of CoBank’s commitment to rural America and its willingness to match our donations, we are able to double our impact and provide meaningful support to organizations that are making a difference right here in Henry County.”

The New Castle Career Center will use the funds to support students in career and technical education programs by helping cover the cost of essential equipment, tools, uniforms, and experiential learning opportunities. Secret Families of Henry County will use the grant to provide Christmas gifts and household essentials to local families in need during the holiday season. Turn Away No Longer serves children in the foster care system by providing resources, advocacy, and support to ensure stability and opportunity for vulnerable youth.

As a member-owned electric cooperative, Henry County REMC follows seven cooperative principles that guide its operations and community involvement. Among them is Concern for Community, a commitment to improving the quality of life in the areas it serves.

“Our cooperative principles are more than words. They guide our actions,” True said. “Concern for Community calls us to invest in the people and organizations that strengthen Henry County. Whether it is supporting students preparing for careers, helping families during the holidays, or caring for children in foster care, these grants reflect our mission to serve beyond the meter.”

Henry County REMC is proud to partner with CoBank in amplifying local impact and remains committed to supporting initiatives that build a stronger, more resilient community for generations to come.

Henry County REMC located in New Castle, Ind., is an electric utility cooperative serving over 7780 members in Henry and parts of Fayette, Rush, Hancock, Delaware, Madison, Randolph, and Wayne counties and maintains over 1230 miles of line.
