Electric Evolution Art Contest

Celebrating 90 Years: Honoring the Past. Powering the Future.

Henry County REMC is proud to celebrate our 90th Anniversary by inviting young artists in our community to participate in the Electric Evolution Art Contest.

This contest encourages students to explore how electricity has shaped our community over the past 90 years and to imagine what the future of energy might look like.

Honoring the past. Powering the future.

The theme, “Honoring the past. Powering the future.”, invites students to think creatively about both history and possibility. What did life look like before widespread electricity? How has it transformed homes, farms, and businesses? And what might the future of energy look like in the years ahead?

We look forward to seeing each student’s unique interpretation of this theme.

The contest is open to youth ages 12–18 in our community. Each student may submit one original piece of artwork.

Students are welcome to work in a variety of visual art forms, including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art. All artwork must be original and created solely by the student. AI-generated artwork is not permitted.

If artwork will be hung, it must include a secure hanger or wire suitable for display.

Entries will be accepted beginning April 20 and must be submitted by May 11. Judging will take place shortly after, and winners will be announced on May 21.

All entries must be delivered in person to Henry County REMC during regular business hours:

Monday – Friday
7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Please ensure all artwork is received by May 11 to be eligible.

All submitted artwork will be proudly displayed at Henry County REMC’s annual Meet the Candidates event on May 21 from 4–7 p.m. While this event is traditionally for members, contest participants and their families are invited to attend and celebrate the creativity of our community’s youth.

Winners will be announced during the event.

Top entries will receive cash awards:

  • 1st Place – $250
  • 2nd Place – $150
  • 3rd Place – $100

In addition, the 1st place artwork will be retained by Henry County REMC as a permanent display in the lobby as part of the cooperative’s 90th Anniversary celebration.

Each entry must be clearly labeled on the back with the student’s name, age, and a parent or guardian’s contact information, including phone number and email address. Students are also encouraged to include a title and brief description of their artwork.

By submitting artwork, participants and their parent or guardian grant permission for the artwork to be photographed or recorded and used in print, online, and promotional materials. Artwork may also be displayed publicly.

For 90 years, Henry County REMC has powered homes, farms, businesses, and dreams. Now it’s your turn to help tell that story through art!
