Non-Permanent Service

What is Considered Non-Permanent Service?

Electric service at a location that is non-permanent in nature such as:

  • Campsites
  • Grain bins
  • Summer home
  • Etc.

Non-Permanent Service Charges

Members who request non-permanent service shall be charged a fee based on the amount of the distribution charge for the account.

  • If the account is closed for up to 12 months the member will be charged the minimum distribution for each month it is disconnected for the rate of the account. (i.e. $50 distribution charge × 11 months = $550 member would have to pay)
  • If the account is closed for more than 12 months the Rural Electric Membership Corporation (REMC) reserves the right to decide if the distribution charge will be accessed at that time
  • When the account is requested to be disconnected the REMC will determine if the lines will be removed to that location
  • If the lines are removed, when the member requests to have service re-established at that location, they will then have to follow the line extension policy at that time
