HCREMC works hard to keep outages to a minimum, but there are times that Mother Nature can take a turn for the worse. Thunderstorms, high winds, flash floods, ice storms and other natural catastrophes can knock out electrical service and cause damage. No matter how severe the storm, you can be sure that HCREMC will not leave you in the dark during these times.
Our employees work hard to ensure your power is restored in a timely manner and we are committed to providing you up-to-date information during outage situations. We offer our members a live outage map that includes details on where our outages are located, how many members are without power and if crews have been dispatched to a particular outage.
It's important for you to know the correct procedures for reporting an outage if one should occur.
If your service is interrupted:
- First check your fuses or breakers to make sure the problem is not your own.
- Check to see if your neighbors have service.
- Have your meter or account number ready before reporting an outage.

Use the SmartHub website or download the free SMARTHUB app, sign in and click on the "Report an Outage" option from the quick link area on the website or select "Service Status" within the app. You will then be able to add comments and report your outage. During large outages of 100 members or more, HCREMC will post outage information on our Facebook and Twitter pages. You CANNOT report your outage via Facebook or Twitter, but you can learn what happened and the progress our crews are making to restore power. If you see we are aware of outages in your area, be assured we will restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
